Using the Cometly SMS UTM Parameters

In this article, we will cover the various ways you can utilize Cometly's SMS UTM parameters so that you can gather insights into how your SMS campaigns are performing within Cometly.



Installing the Cometly SMS Parameters

To install the Cometly SMS parameters, you just need to append the the following URL parameter to all SMS links that you send out:

?comet_source=sms

Example:


If you have an email with the following link in it:
​http://www.cometly.com/demo

You would append the URL parameter like so:



Tracking Specific SMS Campaigns & SMS Messages

If you want to get more granular with your SMS reporting, you can add additional URL parameters to track the specific SMS or SMS broadcast/campaign such as...

  • utm_campaign

  • utm_content
    ​

Example:


If you have an email with the following link in it:
​http://www.cometly.com/demo

You would append the URL parameters like so:

http://www.cometly.com/demo?comet_source=sms&utm_campaign=smscampaign1&utm_content=sms1



SMS Reporting

When you are ready to report on your SMS campaigns, you will find that information via the Cometly Report Builder under the 'SMS' source.

If you add the additional URL parameters we showcased above, you can pull reporting on your specific campaigns or SMS messages by using the URL Parameters filter within the report builder.
