Learn how to setup URL parameters to track custom parameters.

Custom source URL parameters allow you to track specific traffic parameters in your Cometly reports. By appending the correct parameters to your URLs, you can filter and analyze performance for unique parameters, giving you precise insights.

Step 1: Choose Your Custom Parameter

  1. Navigate to the Custom Tracking section in your URL Parameters settings.

  2. Enter the name of your custom parameter in the input field (e.g., "newsletter", "partner_campaign", or "John Smith Affiliate")

Step 2: Generate the Custom Parameter

  1. After entering the custom parameter name, copy the generated parameter shown below (e.g., comet_custom=newsletter).

  2. Add this parameter to the end of the URL you want to track.

Example:
https://example.com?comet_custom=newsletter

Step 3: Use the Custom Parameter in Reports

  1. Once traffic starts coming in from the URL, go to the Report Builder in Cometly.

  2. Use the URL Parameter filtering option to filter your data by the custom parameter name.

  3. View data specific to this parameter, such as conversions, leads, and revenue.
