Klaviyo enables you to automatically add URL parameters to links in your emails or sms. In this article we will show you step-by-step how to place the comet_source parameter so you can see your email and sms touch points in your contacts journey.
Klaviyo Setup Instructions
Navigate to your settings in your Klaviyo account
On the Settings page, click Other, UTM Tracking, and then click Add UTM parameter
Enter comet_source and for the value click the dropdown and select Message type
The Message type will automatically add email or sms to the value depending on the type of message that you are sending. This is what will indicate the type of touchpoint since our system looks for email or sms as values.
Ensure that you have Message type selected for both value boxes:
In the image above, ensure you have Automatically add UTM parameters to links toggled on. This will ensure that every time an email or sms is clicked, the source is set to either email or sms.
Scroll to the top and click Save to save your changes.
You have now configured automatic email and sms tracking with Klaviyo.
