Easily set up our Drift integration to send new chat contacts (with email addresses) to Cometly and map them to the event of your choice.
How It Works
Cometly will automatically create two new attributes in your Drift account at the contact level: Cometly Tracking Token and Cometly Space ID. When a new lead with an email address is created through Drift, it will automatically send the contact to Cometly. The Cometly Tracking Token is used to link the lead back to their original user journey for precise tracking.
Step 1: Authenticate with Drift
Log in to your Cometly account and navigate to the Integrations page within your Cometly space and scroll to the Connections section.
Click Add Integration.
Select Drift as your integration and click Next.
Activate Drift integration
Click Sync to sync your Drift account with Cometly.
Step 2: Place the Tracking Code on Your Website
To ensure the Cometly Tracking Token and Cometly Space ID attributes are updated for new contacts from Drift:
On the Drift Integration page copy the provided tracking code snippet and paste the code before the </body>
tag on your website.
Step 3: Map New Leads from Drift to a Cometly Event
On the Drift Integration page, map the new lead created in Drift to the Cometly event of your choice.
Important Considerations for Event Mapping
When sending Lead events to Cometly from Drift and other platforms, here’s what to consider:
If Drift Leads Are Already in Your CRM:
If your CRM (e.g., HubSpot) already sends Drift leads as part of its Lead events, create a separate event in Cometly, like "Chat Lead", for Drift.
This way, you’ll see both Lead (from your CRM) and Chat Lead (from Drift) in the customer journey, avoiding duplicates.
If Leads Are Sent from Multiple Sources:
If you send Lead events from different sources (e.g., forms, Drift, CRM), you can include Drift leads in the general Lead event.
Choose the setup that best fits your workflow to keep your tracking clear and accurate.
