Passing high-quality data from Cometly to Meta’s ad platform improves your ad optimization, helps Meta’s AI learn faster, and boosts your overall campaign performance. This guide explains how the Cometly Meta Conversion API works, its unique benefits, and how to configure it.
How Does This Work, and What Are the Benefits?
When Cometly sends data back to Meta, it provides high-quality, accurate information about your conversions. This ensures:
Better Match Quality: Meta can link more conversions to the correct ads.
Improved Ad Optimization: Better data leads to smarter ad delivery.
Enhanced AI Learning: Meta’s AI can optimize campaigns faster with richer data.
How Is Cometly's Conversion API Different?
Unlike other Conversion APIs that send only the data available at the time of an event, Cometly builds a comprehensive profile for every visitor.
Key Advantages:
Real-Time Updates: Cometly continuously updates visitor profiles to ensure the most complete data is sent when an event occurs.
Higher Match Quality: This approach maximizes the accuracy of Meta’s tracking, improving ad optimization and AI performance.
How to Configure the Cometly Meta Conversion API
Go to Events Manager: Navigate to the Events Manager in your Cometly account.
Open the Conversion API Page: Find the Conversion API settings.
Choose Your Settings: Select one of the following options:
Send Only Attributed Events (Recommended): Send only events that Cometly can attribute to a Meta ad click. This prioritizes quality by including key parameters (like fbclid) that improve the match score in Meta Events Manager.
If your event has a phone number, you can expect a event match quality score between 8.0 - 9.3.
Send All Events: Send all event data to Meta, including unattributed events. This prioritizes quantity over quality, as some parameters (like fbclid) may be missing, resulting in a lower event match quality score in Meta Events Manager.
Click Save: Apply your settings.
Configuring Custom Rules for Specific Events
You can customize how individual events are sent to Meta:
1. Select an Event: Choose one of your Cometly-tracked events.
2. Set Rules: Pick one of the following options:
Do Not Send Any Events: Prevents the event from being sent to Meta.
Only Send Attributed Events: Sends only events attributed to Meta ads.
Send All Events: Sends all occurrences of the event, regardless of attribution.
Result
If you choose Send Only Attributed Events, you’ll see higher match quality scores inside Meta. This is because Cometly sends enriched, high-quality data for each event.
Important Considerations
One Conversion API Only: Meta allows only one active Conversion API. Disable any others before enabling Cometly’s.
Page View Events: Cometly’s Conversion API doesn’t send page view events. Add the Meta Pixel to the
<head>
of all your site pages for browser-based tracking.Best Setup:
Place the Meta Pixel in the
<head>
of your site for page views.Use Cometly’s Conversion API to send all other events directly to Meta’s server.
