Testing Form Tracking

Learn how to test form tracking for your forms on a specific page URL.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Start Here 👋

Cometly automatically tracks the following fields on your forms: Full Name, First Name, Last Name, Email, and Phone Number. This data is captured in real-time as users type into the fields. Among these, email is the most important field as it connects events to the correct buyer journey, ensuring accurate marketing attribution and insights.

If you are using third-party embedded forms (or iframes), special setup steps are required. Please refer to the Form Tracking for Third-Party Embedded Forms article.

How to Test Form Tracking

Step 1: Access Form Tracking

Go to Space Setup > Form Tracking in your Cometly account.

You’ll see the domains you’ve verified during the Pixel Installation step. If no domains are listed, visit Space Setup > Install & Verify Cometly Pixel to verify your domains.

Step 2: Start the Test

Select the domain you want to test from the dropdown menu.

Enter the Page URL Path (the part of the URL that comes after the domain, e.g., /demo).

Click Test Forms On URL to begin the test.

Step 3: Follow the Test Instructions

A pop-up will appear with the following instructions:

  • Fill out all the fields on your form.

  • If your page has multiple forms, fill out the fields on each form.

  • Do not submit the forms.

  • Once all fields are filled, click Finish Test in the pop-up window.

Click Confirm to proceed.

Step 4: Review the Test Results

After clicking Finish Test, Cometly will show the results for the tested page URL. The status for each form will display as follows:

  • Tracking (Green): All forms on the page are tracking properly.

  • Tracking Error (Yellow): At least one form on the page has a tracking error.

If you have multiple forms on the page, the results will list each form and its tracking status. Ensure all forms display as Tracking for 100% proper functionality.
