In this article you will learn how to setup the Cometly Pixel in Google Tag Manager.

Important Notice: Limited Accuracy When Using Google Tag Manager

The Cometly Pixel will still work if installed through Google Tag Manager, however, you may lose attribution data due to pixel loading delays, privacy blockers, and data loss. For the best performance and accurate tracking, we recommend installing the pixel directly in your website’s <head> section.

Ensure that you do not have the Cometly base code pixel hard coded on your site and also in Google Tag Manager (GTM). This will cause the pixel to be added on your website twice and will cause tracking issues. If you are setting up with Google Tag Manager, ensure it's only in Google Tag Manager and not hard coded on the site.

Create Cometly Pixel Tag

In Cometly, navigate to the Space Setup > Install & Verify Pixel Installation page to retrieve the Cometly Pixel.

Create a new tag in your Google Tag Manager container called Cometly Pixel.

Click on Tag Configuration and choose a custom HTML.

Paste the Cometly Pixel in the custom HTML block.

Set Trigger to 'All Pages'.

Publish the container.

Navigate to the Space Setup > Install & Verify Pixel Installation page to add your domain and verify the Cometly Pixel has been installed on your website.
