Exclude specific domains from tracking as referral source

Learn how to exclude domains as a referral source in your reporting.

Updated this week

Excluding domains from Cometly’s referral source ensures your analytics remain accurate. When you add a domain to the exclusion list, Cometly will no longer attribute visits from that domain to the ‘referrer’ source.

Excluding a domain is not retroactive. This means that if a specific domain has already been recorded as "referral" traffic in Cometly, those past records will remain unchanged. The exclusion will only take effect from the moment you add the domain, applying to all traffic data moving forward.

Automatic Exclusion

Manually Adding Exclusions

  1. Open Space Setup, then select Traffic Permissions.

  2. Click Add Domain

    1. Enter the correctly formatted domain you want to exclude from being attributed to the 'referrer' source. Do not include http or https. Only include the domain and/or subdomain.

      Example: example.com or shop.example.com

  3. Save your changes.

Why It Matters

  • Exclude Your Own Traffic: Prevent self-referrals or meeting links (e.g., meetings.hubspot.com, calendly.com) from skewing data.

  • Accurate Attribution: Focus on true external sources to see which channels drive real results.

  • Streamlined Reporting: Make better decisions with data that isn’t inflated by internal clicks.
