Ecommerce Events: Step 2 - Pixel Code Installation & Setting Up Events
Ecommerce Events: Step 2 - Pixel Code Installation & Setting Up Events

Learn how to install the Cometly Pixel Code for your Ecommerce Events space and set up events such as add to cart & initiate checkout.

Updated over a week ago

Step 1: Install the Cometly Pixel Code on your Ecommerce store

To use the Comet Pixel standard events, you must first install the Cometly pixel code on every page of your Ecommerce store just above the </head> tag.

Ensure you have the Cometly Pixel Code on every step a customer would take throughout the funnel & buying journey.

This code sends site visits back to Cometly so you can measure customer actions and customer journeys.

The Cometly Pixel Code will automatically retrieve data from form fields when forms are submitted.

Each Events space in Cometly has a unique Cometly Pixel Code. Locate the code in the Events Manager by clicking the 'Setup Events' button.

Step 2: Add To Cart & Initiate Checkout Events

A) Select the 'Add To Cart', 'Initiate Checkout', and 'Purchase' events.

B) Turn "ON" the events that you would wish to track on your website and Copy the event code to your clipboard

C) Place the Add To Cart and Initiate Checkout event code just above the </body> tag for the necessary pages. This allows the event code to load along with the pixel code when the page loads.

Step 3: Purchase Event

We recommend using a direct integration (webhook) or GTM for firing purchase events for the highest attribution accuracy. In mid July 2023, we will have direct integrations for all major Ecommerce platforms.

For setting up with GTM, please refer to our Ecommerce GTM Tracking setup.

After you have completed the set up, you can navigate back to the Getting Started page and mark Step 2 as "complete".

** Please Note: Cometly will not recognize activity on your pixel unless it can verify that your traffic is coming from an advertisement inside of your workspace. So be sure to finish the entire setup process before firing any tests in your account.
