We're excited for you to begin tracking your Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok ads to your WooCommerce store more effectively using Cometly 🎉

Below are step by step instructions for how to setup your WooCommerce store with Cometly so you can begin using this right away.

Step 1: Connect your Integrations

Connect your Facebook account and TikTok account to your Cometly Space. In order for Cometly to track data, you must connect both of these integrations.

  • A) Connect your Facebook profile to Cometly and select your ad accounts you want to track

    • Navigate to the Profile Integrations page in Cometly, and click "Connect" in the box that reads "Connect your Facebook ad accounts".

      • Cometly will automatically connect to whichever Facebook profile is logged in on the browser that you are using.

    • Authorize the Cometly app to pull ad data from Facebook

    • Inside Space Settings > Integrations, select which ad accounts you want to connect to the Space

  • B) Connect your TikTok profile to Cometly and select your ad accounts you want to track

    • Navigate to the Profile Integrations page in Cometly, and click "Connect" in the box that reads "Connect your TikTok ad accounts".

      • Cometly will automatically connect to whichever TikTok profile is logged in on the browser that you are using.

    • Authorize the Cometly app to pull ad data from TikTok

    • Inside Space Settings > Integrations, first click on the TikTok symbol under "Manage Ad Integrations" and select which ad accounts you want to connect to the Space

Step 2: Setup Comet Events for your WooCommerce store

On the left hand panel, navigate to Tracking > Tracking Setup, and on this page click the blue "Setup Comet Events" button.

  • A) Click continue on step 1 here - Because you are setting up WooCommerce you only need to add the Cometly plugin to your WooCommerce store

    • Reach out to support by using the chat box or by emailing support@cometly.com

    • Once your receive that plugin from Cometly support, just upload the plugin to your WooCommerce store

  • B) Add your Events that you want to track

    • You still need to select the event categories that are meaningful to your WooCommerce store and choose how you'd like to track them. Then, toggle "on" the event you would like to start tracking and then follow the directions for installing that specific event to your WooCommerce store.

    • A couple common events for tracking in WooCommerce are Add to Cart, Initiate Checkout, and Purchase.

  • C) Check Pixel status

    • Click 'continue' below to go back to the "Tracking Setup" page and refresh the page to review the status of your pixel.

    • If the status is Active, your pixel has been installed correctly. It may take up to 20 minutes for your pixel status to change after installing it.

Step 3: Setup the UTM parameters on your ALL of your ads

  • A) Setup the UTM Parameters on your Facebook Ads

    • Navigate to the Facebook ads manager, select the campaigns you want to track and then navigate to the ad level. There should be a section titled "Destination" with a box for "Website URL".

    • Paste this code ?utm_source=Facebook&utm_campaign={{ad.id}} onto the end of the Website URL of every ad in the campaigns you want to track

  • B) Setup the UTM Parameters on your TikTok Ads

    • Navigate to the TikTok ads manager, select the campaigns you want to track and then navigate to the ad level. There should be a section titled "Destination page" with a box for "Website" - "URL".

    • Paste this code ?utm_source=Tiktok&utm_campaign=__CID__ onto the end of the Website URL of every ad in the campaigns you want to track

  • Important: Cometly will not be able to track sales for an ad if that ad does not have the correct UTM parameters setup!

Step 4: Turn tracking on for your "existing campaigns" by using the Import Campaigns page.

For any campaigns that you had running BEFORE installing the Cometly app in Facebook or TikTok, you will need to toggle tracking ON inside of Cometly's "Import Campaigns" page to pull data for those ads into Cometly's Ads Manager.

Step 5: Begin to optimize your ads using the Cometly ads manager
