How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in Cometly

Learn how to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Cometly account to add an extra layer of security using an authenticator app.

Updated this week

Two-factor authentication helps protect your Cometly account even if your password is compromised. Once enabled, you will be required to enter a one-time code from your authenticator app when signing in or performing sensitive actions.

Step 1: Open Your Profile Settings

  1. In the Cometly app, click your name or avatar in the bottom-left corner.

  2. Select Profile under Profile Settings.

This will open your personal account security settings.

Step 2: Locate Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Scroll to the Two Factor Authentication section.

  2. You will see a message indicating that 2FA is not enabled.

  3. Click the Enable button.

Step 3: Confirm Your Password

For security reasons, Cometly will ask you to confirm your password before continuing.

  1. Enter your account password.

  2. Click Confirm.

Once confirmed, you will proceed to the authenticator setup.

Step 4: Set Up Your Authenticator App

After confirming your password, Cometly will guide you through setting up an authenticator.

Typical steps include:

  • Scanning a QR code using an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password.

  • Entering the 6-digit code generated by the app to verify the setup.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete activation.

Step 5: Verify 2FA Is Enabled

Once setup is complete:

  • The Two Factor Authentication section will show that 2FA is enabled.

  • You will be prompted for a one-time code from your authenticator app during future logins or sensitive actions.

💡 Pro Tip

Save your backup or recovery codes in a secure location. These are critical if you ever lose access to your authenticator app.

⚠️ Note

If you believe your account has been compromised, update your password immediately and use Logout Other Browser Sessions from the Profile page to sign out of all devices.
